Weather Advisories For Tonight

Weather advisories for overnight and tomorrow from WTOV9's Jeff Oechslein

Winter Weather Advisory Wednesday 2 am to 6 pm with the exception of Wetzel and Tyler counties where the advisory expires at 8 am Wednesday

The light snow from early this morning is just an appetizer for the main course that arrives overnight into Wednesday.  Snow will overspread the area from 2 am to 4 am Wednesday with a quick changeover to freezing rain expected south of Interstate 70.  By 7 am the freezing rain line will move close to the US 22 corridor with a changeover to rain for areas south of Interstate 70.  Freezing rain may advance as far north as East Liverpool while Carrollton and New Philadelphia stay mainly snow.  Snow accumulations will be highest from northern Columbiana county to Carrollton and New Philadelphia, this is where 3 to 6 inches of snow is likely.  Lower amounts will found south of this line as freezing rain will cut into snow amounts.  An inch or less of snow is expected south of I-70 where the changeover occurs first.  Freezing rain will likely change to rain in these southern areas as temperatures climb above freezing.  While up to 3" of snow can fall towards the US 22 corridor before a changeover to freezing rain.  Precipitation will begin to taper off by afternoon.

Today: Mostly cloudy, high 30.

Tonight: Cloudy, snow overspreads the area between 2 and 4 am, mixing with ice south, low 24.

Wednesday: Snow, ice, and rain, with mainly snow from a New Philadelphia to Carrollton line, snow, freezing rain, and rain near US 22 and south, with mainly ice then rain south of I-70, high temperatures ranging from the lower 30's north to upper 30's south.

Wednesday Night:  Snow showers during the evening, mostly cloudy, turning sharply colder, low 13.

Thursday: Cloudy to partly sunny, high 28.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, chance for a few showers of snow and rain, low 15, high 40.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, rain showers late, low 28, high 40.
