Country Stars Respond to Death of Barbara Bush

Reba, Brad Paisley and more have taken to social media to react to the passing of an American inspiration.

Former First Lady Barbara Bush died Tuesday (April 17) due to failing health, the Office of George H. W. Bush has confirmed.

Reba called the proponent of family literacy “one-of-a-kind.” 

“I was so honored the day she called me “Dearie,’” Reba captions a photo with Mrs. Bush with a heart emoji. “I learned so much from her. Mainly to enjoy life, and spend more time with your family and friends. Mrs. Bush, I will miss you so much, my friend. Happy trails to you, till we meet again….”

Brad Paisley thanked the wife and mother of former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, respectively, for her “friendship and so many memories.”

“This nation owes this woman a huge debt for her wisdom, guidance, and love,” he says. “Rest In peace my friend. What an incredible & inspiring life you lived Barbara Bush…. #alifewelllived.”

CMT’s Cody Alan reacted to the news, writing he “appreciated her honesty, humor and heart.” 

Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Bush “will be announced as soon as is practical.” She was 92.
