Carly Pearce delivered a blazing performance of her newest revenge anthem when she took the stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday night (October 8).
Pearce performed “truck on fire” from her fourth studio record, hummingbird, which made its debut in early June. Pearce co-produced the album for the first time alongside longtime collaborators Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne.
“Truck on fire’ was actually an idea that Charles Kelley from Lady A had, and I was brought into the write,” Pearce said in a recent interview with iHeartCountry of the song she wrote with Kelley and Justin Ebach. “It was just so fun to get to write a girl anthem that I feel like all of us can kind of be a little crazy at times, and have fantasies of wanting to burn down things that maybe our exes deserve to have burnt down.”
The “girl anthem” is one of 14 tracks to appear on hummingbird, which also includes “country music made me do it,” “my place,” “fault line,” “trust issues,” “we don’t fight anymore” — the duet with Chris Stapleton that won the Collaborative Video of the Year category at the 2024 CMT Music Awards earlier this year — and more. Pearce recently kicked off her “hummingbird tour,” marking her first-ever global headlining run. See the dates here.
