Timothy Wayne debuted an upbeat, carefree anthem just before taking the stage at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Festival presented by Capital One.

The rising country artist and Louisiana State University student, 21, released “Good Ole Boys Girl” on Friday (September 19). Songwriters Stephen Paul Newman, Bryce Mauldin and Tyler Chambers teamed up to write the newly-released single, bringing a fresh twist to a classic country story of young love. The lyrics paint a visual of a young woman driving in her Chevy with a boyfriend holding her hand and “ain’t letting go of something like that.” Wayne sings, “I bet every farm on the edge of this world that she’s a good ole boy’s girl.”

On Saturday (September 20), Wayne joined his uncle, country megastar Tim McGraw, on stage at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Festival. The pair performed “Paper Umbrellas,” which McGraw included on Standing Room Only in 2023, and later released it again as a collaboration with Parker McCollum. Wayne said in a caption on Instagram after the performance that “words cannot express this moment. IHeart Festival was amazing and I am honored to have been a small part of it. …thank you all for your kindness. It was a night I will never forget!!!”

“I’ve been very lucky. I’ve had a lot of father figures in my life, him being one of them, so I get a lot of life advice from him and musical advice,” Wayne shared on the iHeartRadio Music Festival red carpet. “I take a lot of stage presence advice from him to make sure the crowd feels involved in the show, feels involved in the music. That way, that when they’re there [at the show], they’re there. They’re not worried about anything outside. So, that’s one of the biggest pieces of advice [from McGraw].”

The star-studded, genre-spanning event returned on Friday night and Saturday night to T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
