Jana Kramer shared a candid conversation with Caroline Jones, a solo singer-songwriter and member of Zac Brown Band, during a new episode of Whine Down with Jana Kramer on Wednesday (February 11).

Together, they spoke about the balance of upholding a career — including on tour — while raising children. Kramer is a mother of three: Jolie, 10, Jace, 7, and Roman, 2. Jones is a mother to son Declan, 2. She toured with Zac Brown Band until she was up to 37 weeks pregnant, and now, balances music and motherhood. Jones is getting ready to debut her next studio album, Good Omen, on Friday (February 13), and kick off her headlining run after the band’s shows at Sphere Las Vegas.

In a Whine Down clip shared on Instagram, Kramer remembered having a crib on her tour bus, the expense of having another bus on the road, and considering how the work-life balance would look for her.

“It obviously takes a village, but yeah, it’s a constant balance,” Jones said. “And I find that, you know, this generation of women, we have more options than any generation before us has had. And it’s a great blessing, but it also can be overwhelming because you’re like, ‘well, what do I do? Do I work? Do I mom? Do I do both?’ …The music industry is not set hip for moms. We do have a unique set of challenges that men in the music industry don’t face, you know? So, it’s a lot to navigate. And it’s been beautiful, and at times, really challenging.”

Throughout their conversation, Jones also shared stories about performing with Zac Brown Band, her solo music, “artistic stubbornness” and more. Find the full conversation on iHeartRadio here.
