Dan + Shay took the stage with their heartfelt new single on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday night (May 19).
Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney delivered a rendition of βSay So,β a deeply vulnerable ballad that spotlights mental health awareness and the power of supporting one another. The Jimmy Kimmel Live performance follows a moving moment during the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards earlier this week. Smyers and Mooney wrote βSay Soβ with David HodgesΒ andΒ Jimmy Robbins after losing a friend, βand we hope it offers strength and encouragement to anyone going through a tough time,β the duo said around the time they released the song last month. They added in a statement: ββSay Soβ is a reminder that no matter what you are going through, you donβt have to go through it alone. We wrote this song from a very personal place and could not be more proud to stand behind the message.β
βSay Soβ was the first track to release from Dan + Shayβs upcoming studio album, Young, followed by the title track. Smyers and Mooney wrote βYoungβ with Hillary Lindsey,Β Liz RoseΒ andΒ Lori McKenna. Dan + Shay said when they announced their 10-track album that itβs βby far our most personal album yet, and gives a real-time snapshot of exactly where we are in our lives,β Dan + Shay shared as they announced the record. βFrom the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your patience and support while we made YOUNG. Weβve never been more proud of a batch of songs, and hope they mean as much to you as they do to us.β
Dan + Shay will kick off their headlining tour with Tyler HubbardΒ andΒ Josh Ross in September. Scroll below to find the list of destinations on βThe Young Tour.β YoungΒ will release on August 21. Watch the duoβs performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live here.
