AMY: Feeling Regret… and Explaining the Point of This Podcast

Write Your Story: The Unthinkable Power of Taking a Break

What do disciplining a child, teaching preschool and taking good care of yourself have in common?

The answer might surprise you.

This week’s episode is inspired by a parenting technique that seemed too simple to actually work. But as soon as I watched this alarmingly unsophisticated tactic have wild success with my four and five year olds—and their friends—I had to ask myself: maybe there’s value in even the adults taking a break?

How long should the break be? Why is this straightforward tool so powerful?

Perhaps it has to do with putting us back in touch with our higher selves, our creative nature, our intuitive voice.

To learn how taking a short break can combat burnout, calm big emotions and get you unstuck (and even how it can bring order to unruly preschoolers) take a listen and let me know what you think.

Where do you need to take a break?

Soul Sessions: September Astrology: Eclipse Season, Retrogrades, & The Fall Equinox

Welcome to Eclipse Season! This cosmic period is all about beginnings and endings happening simultaneously, and it can initiate a powerful six-month cycle of change. While the start of this season can feel drastic or dramatic, both on a global and personal level, being aware of these energetic shifts can help you take the edge off and embrace the process.

This year, the energy is amplified by September being a "9" month in a "9" year. In numerology, the number 9 represents surrender, letting go, trusting, and acceptance, which perfectly mirrors the feeling of eclipse season. It’s a time to honor the sacredness of closure, even when it feels wobbly. Grief and grace can arrive hand in hand, and it's okay to let yourself feel all of the emotional waves that come with this powerful transition.

The month is marked by several key astrological events:

  • Saturn Retrograde in Pisces (Sept. 1st): Prompts you to revisit and finalize lessons from the past, dissolving old patterns and beliefs.
  • Mercury in Virgo (Sept. 2nd): Encourages practical, precise communication and is a great time to organize your life and refine your routines.
  • Uranus Retrograde in Gemini (Sept. 6th): Brings unexpected insights and "cosmic downloads" that can guide you toward freedom.
  • Lunar Eclipse at 15 degrees of Pisces (Sept. 7th): Triggers a six-month cycle of closure and release, urging you to honor your emotions.
  • Mercury in Libra (Sept. 18th): Fosters harmonious communication and creativity.
  • Venus in Virgo (Sept. 19th): Focuses on practical love and relationships, a good time to refine your finances.
  • Solar Eclipse in Virgo (Sept. 21st): A powerful time to set new intentions and take practical action.
  • Mars in Scorpio & Fall Equinox (Sept. 22nd): Deepens your passion and creative drive while the equinox brings in a theme of balance and harmony.
