Lewis Capaldi's old school, St Kentigern's Academy in Scotland, has unveiled a…unique…looking statue of the artist. The collaboration between the school's art department and fourth-year students resulted in a bronze creation that can only be described as “weird-looking” by Capaldi himself
Capaldi graciously said that they captured his essence, although it's pretty strange. “It’s pretty weird-looking but I like it,” Capaldi laughed as it was unveiled. The statue took six months to make, and everyone involved apparently it a secret until Capaldi got his first look. It turns out they intentionally made it messed up, drawing inspiration from James Corden's prank on David Beckham.
“The art department at the school came up with the concept, and it went from there—we sourced a mannequin from a guy in Glasgow, took it back to school and built around it. The biggest challenge we faced was getting the face to look not quite right and a bit unusual and it went from there,” art teacher Bryan Johnston shared about the process.
