Baltimore TV Tradition of 'Manic Monday' Comes to an END!

Since 1997, Baltimore tv news reporter Ron Matz has made a tradition of getting singers/performers to sing 'Maniic Monday' in Fells Point. Regardless of weather, at 6 am Ron has been there to get the work week started for this historic Baltimore neighborhood established in 1763 as a harbor and ship yard, best known for producing topsail schooners famous for their speed and agility on the water.

As this Baltimore tv legend retires, the evolution in tv broadcasting continues evolving too. There was a time in cities all over the U.S., local tv stations created much of their programming locally. In addition to news programs, they had morning talk shows, kids shows and more. That was during a time that most cities only had three or possibly four local netwrok affiliates. With cable, sattellite and internet changing the landscape offering 1000's of options, local tv programming is increasingly rebroadcasts of National shows. More and more there's less of these kind of clips so in honor of LOCAL, here's a little real life from Maryland.

Good Luck Ron!
